Banja Luka has many good and high quality restaurants. The traditional ‘pita’ or pie places offer very inexpensive, traditional flavours that all guests should try at least once during their stay.
The most popular and numerous restaurants in town are traditional and Italian. Traditional restaurants offer excellent menu’s of Bosnian meals including; sarma, begova corba (chicken stew), teletina (veal), filled peppers, sitni cevap (veal stew), and grilled pork just to name a few. There are growing variations of restaurants sprouting up around town, including Chinese, Mexican, Viennese, and quite a few excellent restaurants specializing in fresh and saltwater fish dishes. The local trout, pastrmka, is always a good buy. Service in Banja Luka is usually quite good and tipping is normal, but not required. An average sit down meal with drinks generally ranges from 6-12 euros. The pita places are very inexpensive lunch stopsand range from 1-3 euro.
